Frequently Asked Questions
This section is aimed at creators and publishers who are looking to use GlobalComix to publish and distribute their work.
Yes. GlobalComix is a self-serve comics publishing platform that allows anyone to create, upload, and publish their comics.
Yes. Uploading to GlobalComix is designed as a creator-friendly service, and you retain the full rights to all of your work. For more details, read our Terms of Service.
No. You need to either own the comic or publishing rights to publish comics on GlobalComix. For more details, read our Terms of Service.
We make it as easy as possible to upload and publish your work on GlobalComix as we can. We support uploads of one or many image files (.jpg, .png), or any archive container formats such as PDF (.pdf), or ZIP (.zip, .cbz) with one or multiple pages/files. Gif and sound files are not currently supported.
There is no maximum image pixel size required. As part of the upload process, we process and resize your images into multiple versions (original, desktop, mobile, and thumbnail sizes). If the image is larger than 1280 px wide (single page), or larger than 1920px wide (double page), we will resize the images down to those widths (with the corresponding correct height ratio) for the images served to your readers.
That said, we recommend that you always upload the highest quality version of your work whenever possible, as this will result in the best image quality and reading experience for your readers.
No. You are free to publish your content on any other platform in addition to GlobalComix, such as your own website, or on other comic hosting services.
That said, we are working very hard to make GlobalComix the best and easiest platform to use for comic creators, and you probably want to consolidate most of your work in one place in order to effectively market it and minimize time spent maintaining your work everywhere. For this, you should obviously choose to use us! ;)
If you think that your specific language, or comic category type are missing from the options you can select, please post a suggestion for us in the suggestions forum to let us know. We'll respond to you as soon as we can!
Generally speaking, we are fairly relaxed about what kinds of comics you can create and public. The exception to this is explicitly sexual stories (such as Hentai) which are not accepted on GlobalComix. The rule of thumb is that nudity is allowed when not in context of depicting sexual acts in the same way you might encounter nudity when watching a movie in the theatres. For more in-depth information, please visit our content policy.
The interactive panel-to-panel reading experience is one of the cornerstones of what makes GlobalComix a great platform for readers across all devices. It's a way for you as a creator to visually provide a guided story experience, bringing focus from panel to panel in the zoom and order you intended them to be read.
When you upload your creations to GlobalComix, you are strongly encouraged to set up the interactive panel-to-panel reading experience using our Creator Tool.
The Interactive Reading Mode allows readers to easily consume your comics on a panel-by-panel basis, where our reader tool will zoom and transition the reader between panels in the desired order, making for a very good mobile device reading experience that does not require the reader to pinch-and-zoom repeadedly for every page they're reading.
It also allows you better control of the story's focal points, as well as innately making sure that the comic is read in the right direction by international audiences (ex: left to right vs right to left).
When you upload your comic pages, you will see links to "View" and "Edit" each page. Clicking the "Edit" link takes you into the creator tool where you can define the size and bounds of each panel. You can add new frames around your panels by pressing the "F" key on your keyboard, or by clicking the "Add Frame" button in the top of the editor experience, and then selecting the area of your image that correspond to your panel.
Yes! You can add any number of points to your panel's path by clicking on the straight lines to add more points. You can then move the points around to create any shape that you want, whether circular, octagonal, or otherwise irregular.
By default, when you upload your releases and pages, only you can access and read the them. Once you publish your comic release, the page(s) become available to read for anyone on the internet.
You can also set specific access controls on your comic via the "Edit Licensing" link on your comic admin section. Here you can choose to require payment to access your comic globally, and also create overrides for regions to your liking.
For those of you with specific regional distribution rights, you can control availability on a comic language and region basis in your "Edit Licensing" page in your comic admin section. For example, you could choose to make your comic require payment for readers in the US, completely unavailable to readers in China, and free for the rest of the world.
You can specify the licensing model / access criteria on the "Edit Licensing" page in your your comic's admin section. Simply set "Global Availability" to Paid to enable a pay-wall globally, or set it specifically for regions you want to monetize in the "Regional Overrides" of the same page.
Yes. Whether you want to give away free access to friends and family, or are planning on running a promotional campaign during specific dates, we have you covered.
To create free promotional codes, visit your "Incentive Codes" section via your account menu in the navigation bar. This page lets you view, manage, and create promotional codes that you can give away.
Please note that any free promotional codes that you create are only applicable and can be used when reading your content.
You have a wide variety of criteria that you can define which govern the use of your promotional codes, giving you full control of how many can claim the codes, what dates they can be claimed, or even whether the promotional codes expire.
The list of criteria you can use are:
- Type of promotional code (free
page credits, vs limited time access).
- For free page credits type, you can specify the # amount of free page credits that each user will get. When a user reads your content with free page credits, they are given the right to re-read thos pages for free at any time in the future.
- For limited time access type, users are given a duration in which they can read your content entirely for free. After that duration expires, they will no longer be able to access the pages they've previously read for free, and need to buy page credits as normal to re-read your content.
- Maximum count of users who can
claim your promotional code.
- This setting allows you to control how many users are able to claim your code. If you set this to "100", then only the first 100 people who claim the code are able to do so.
- The expiration time of a
promotional code once it has been claimed by a user.
- Both time-based free access and free page-credit type promotional codes can have a expiration time assigned. For free page credits type, this means that any credits that are not used by the expiration time are lost. For time-based free access, this means the expiration time of when the promotional code will deactivate.
- Note: it is possible to set your promotional codes to never expire. We urge extreme caution with using this setting in combination with time-based free access, as this essentially means you are giving users who claim the code permanent free access to your content.
- (Optional) - The specific date
range in which the code can be redeemed by any user.
- This is useful for if you are running campaigns during specific dates, such as for holidays or special events. By specifying a date range in which users can claim the code, you are able to pre-create free access codes and create campaign assets, print gift cards, and so on, without worrying about users being able to access your content prematurely.
- When used in combination with an expiration duration, you can for example set a code to be claimable only on July 4th, with a duration of 1 day. Meaning, you are giving away access only for July 4th.
There are multiple ways to earn money on your comics. The current options are as follows:
- Subscription: When you enable paid access on your comics, users are required to purchase a GlobalComix Gold subscription to access any pages that are not free. Subscription revenue is split between all creators and publishers the user reads within a month, based on the percentage of pages read.
- PDF Sales: For traditional page-to-page comics and manga, you are able to set optional pricing for each release, allowing users to purchase them as PDF downloads. This also unlocks permanent reading access to the release within the GlobalComix reading experience.
- Donations: You can enable optional donations so that readers may donate directly to you. This causes a donation button to appear on your profile, as well as other locations within the discovery and reading experience related to your content.
Generally speaking, GlobalComix takes a 25-35% share of GlobalComix Gold subscription revenue, with the rest going to creators and publishers of content they read during the month.
It's important to note that we bake in all payment processing/transaction fees directly into our cut, so there are no extra processing fees or deductions that determine what you earn for your content.
Further, there might be times when we take a lower % share, depending on specific revenue share agreements with individual creators. You can always view what your revenue share % is by visiting your Creator Profile settings page and looking at the "Monetizing your comics" section.
GlobalComix uses Paypal to transfer funds to our creators who publish and monetize their comics on our platform. In order to get paid, you need to have an active PayPal account, and list your PayPal account email in your Creator Page settings.
When you have more than the minimum required earned income (US $30), you can claim your payout at any time from your Income History page by clicking "Claim Payout" button. We will then immediately issue a transfer for the listed amount (minus the payout fee) to your PayPal account.
The payout fee is the exact cost that GlobalComix is charged in order to send you your money. For PayPal users, this is ~3-4.5% and the sum varies depending on country, and for US Stripe users, this is $2.25 + 0.25%. You can be fully confident that GlobalComix does not charge any additional fees on top of what our payout provider(s) charges us.
When readers pay to access your paid content or send you donations, your income is first listed in the "Pending Income" section of your income history page. All income earned will sit in the "Pending Income" status for a total of 14 days, and can not be claimed for a payout nor used to pay for access or donations during this time.
The 14 day waiting period is a measure that's set up to help prevent fraud, and to allow the full transfer of funds to transpire end-to-end. If payment fraud is detected during this time-frame, we will invalidate the corresponding income and remove any user access that might have wrongfully been purchased.
"Confirmed Income" is the total amount of earned income that has passed the 14 day wait period and is available to you to either spend on reading access, donations to other creators, or to claim as a payout.
Currently we only support Payouts using PayPal, but are looking to enable a larger set of options in the future. Keep an eye out on our Blog for more information and announcements regarding payout providers.
Revenue from GlobalComix Gold subscriptions is paid out on the renewal date for that specific member, so that means their subscription is still due for renewal.
Rest assured that you will see updates to your revenue as soon as the Gold member’s subscription renews. If you’ve enabled email notifications, you will also get an email letting you know that you’ve earned money.

We allow AI comics to be uploaded at this time, although that may change in the future. We also reserve the right to remove AI content at our discretion.
There are a few key things to be aware of regarding AI content, and by uploading to GlobalComix, you agree to these:
- You must disclose the use of AI, whether visual(Art) or written(Story), as part of the release upload process
- AI content is not eligible for monetization at this time, including but not limited to GlobalComix Gold revenue and PDF sales
- The donation button is disabled in releases utilizing AI Art
We take violations of this policy very seriously. Repeat infractions, particularly around disclosure, may result in actions taken against your creator profile and GlobalComix account.
You are able to edit the pages within the Manage Series screen. If you can open the release that contains the page you would like to edit, look below the page that you would like to change. You should see "Edit", "View" and a gear icon on the right.
Click on that gear icon and you will see a new dialogue box. There will be two tabs on this dialogue box, one says "Page # settings" and another says "Image Asset". Click on "Image asset" to open that tab.
On the left side of the dialogue box, you'll see "Update Asset" with a browse button. Click on "Browse" and you should be able to select your new image to upload for that page. After it uploads, click on the orange "Upload" button at the bottom of the dialogue box to make sure it updates! If you don't press this orange upload button, it won't update your page.
Then, the page for that release should refresh with the new image you uploaded! It simply replaces the file for that page, but the data associated with that page remains intact.
Covers should be 1080x1670 at a minimum, and should retain that exact aspect ratio if larger. Profile banners should be 1920x267.

Please note that donations do not unlock content access, but this is a great way to support creators who are giving free access to content.

This section covers common questions related to single-issue purchases.
Single-issue purchases are individual releases within a comic, manga, or toon series that you can purchase a license to access and read. These include individual comic issues, manga chapters, toon episodes, etc.
This is sometimes referred to as “a la carte”.
Day-and-date refers to digital releases becoming available on the same day the comic, manga, or toon hits retail store shelves.
Yes, not all single-issue purchases are day-and-date. You can find many single issues for older series and the latest and greatest stories from publishers.
Single-issue purchases grant a license to read, while PDF downloads are DRM-free and grant access to a downloadable PDF that you own permanently.
Yes! You can download single issues you’ve purchased a license for and read them offline, even without a GlobalComix Gold membership.
Yes! We plan to expand availability for single-issue purchases and day-and-date content over time. This includes publishers and independent creators. Stay tuned for more announcements soon.
In the GlobalComix app, tap the My Shelf icon in the bottom navigation, and then tap on Purchases. On the GlobalComix website, click/tap on your profile avatar to open your Settings menu, and select Purchases.
You can find single issues on the Series and Release Info panes. You can access Series Info from within the reading experience by clicking/tapping the middle of your screen.
We’re sorry to hear that you cannot access your purchase. Please contact our team using our Contact Form so that we can assist you.
We’re sorry to hear that you’re having trouble downloading your purchase for Offline Reading. Please contact our team using our Contact Form so that we can assist you.
You can request a refund for your single-issue purchase based on where you made the purchase. For GlobalComix website purchases, please submit a request using our Contact Form. For in-app purchases, you can request a refund through the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
Please note that if you have read past the free preview and have already received a refund in the past, the refund request may be denied.
Some publishers withhold single issues for some time after their original release date, or rotate the issues available regularly. Think of it like a new movie release–it’s in theaters now, will be available to rent/buy soon, and eventually will land on streaming services.
That’s a similar pattern that comics and manga publishers follow when releasing their stories in print and digital formats.
Yes! GlobalComix Gold members enjoy a discount on single-issue purchases. This applies to all purchases made while a member and can quickly add up, making GlobalComix Gold the best value in comics.
Unfortunately, some publishers do not have the license to distribute content globally and may require restrictions on the countries where a single issue can be purchased. This is common with licensed intellectual property like Star Wars and Stranger Things.
